The interactive touchscreen invites visitors to reflect on the impact of colonial history, past and present. By arranging floating words, they create poetic reflections for others to read or build upon. The concept for this installation was inspired by the simplicity of fridge magnets. Visitors create their own poetic compositions, using a curated set of evocative words and phrases that reflect the themes of the exhibition. Like fridge magnets, visitors leave their reflections for others to read or build upon. This collaborative element fosters a sense of shared storytelling.
For the UI design, the theme of ocean waves and movement played a central role. The words on the interface float gently, mimicking the motion of being carried by water, while occasional waves wash over them. This dynamic animation, paired with the subtle presence of ocean waves in the background, reinforces the exhibition’s maritime themes.

The project highlights my focus on creating meaningful, user-centered designs that bridge storytelling and interaction. It also demonstrates my ability to conceptualise and design exhibits that encourage reflection and dialogue about sensitive and historically significant topics.
